Ilustres Desconhecidos
Sourced from special parcels and little-known vineyards, Ilustres Desconhecidos is a collection of singular and expressive wines brought to life by the creativity and skill of our winemakers.
In 2015, we planted 11 white grape varieties – each with 700 vines – at Tapadinha, one of our family’s most prized vineyards located at 580m altitude on top of the Rio Torto Valley.
These vines have been a part of our effort to plant experimental vineyards with libraries of specific grape varieties. This has helped us to make significant advances in the study of viticulture in the Douro, adapt to climate change, as well as to identify high performing varietals and deepen our knowledge of lesser-known grapes.
Each of the wines in these series are unique editions with extremely limited availability, and may not be produced again.
